We prepare for the flight in advance: site reconnaissance, obtaining permits, securing the area, in accordance with Swiss regulations (FOCA registration), and with insurance cover. On the day of filming, we capture stabilised aerial footage, followed by the selection of shots, editing and colour grading consistent with the rest of the project, before exporting the footage in the required format.

What is a drone footage used for?

A slow flyover of a village in the early morning, a shot of a building site, an overview of a festival: the drone provides a sense of scale and situates the location. We use it as a storytelling tool: one or two well-chosen shots, rather than an entire sequence filmed from the air.

The footage is shot in 4K, stabilised, and then colour-graded to match the rest of the project so that there is no visible seam between the ground and the sky.

Regulations and safety

Drone operations in Switzerland are regulated by the FOCA. We are registered, insured and prepare thoroughly for every flight: checking the areas (aerodromes, nature reserves, built-up areas), applying for permits where necessary, and securing the perimeter on the day of filming.

When working above an audience, the rules are strict and we enforce them. If a shot cannot be filmed safely, we will suggest an alternative way of achieving it.

How much does a drone shoot cost?

From CHF 900 per day: the drone, the pilot, flight preparation, permits and insurance. The preparation, permits and insurance remain the same regardless of the duration, which is why the drone is generally booked on a daily basis. When we produce the film ourselves, the drone is simply one of our tools, with no separate charge. For a production run by another team that only requires a few shots, we charge for the actual flight time rather than a full day.

Who owns the drone footage?

For a film we produce, we retain the copyright and you are granted a licence to use it, as with our other services. On a production led by another team, where we act as remote camera operators, the footage belongs to the production company: its use, including its inclusion in our portfolio, is to be agreed with them, and often only once the production has been released.

Is it allowed to film from above a city?

Often, yes, subject to certain conditions: distance from people, altitude, and permits depending on the area. We check the feasibility before confirming the quote.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

Rain or strong winds will prevent the flight from taking place. We will arrange an alternative date, with no charge for the rescheduling.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes. A deposit of 20 per cent of the invoice total is required to confirm the order and secure the date. We will reserve the date as soon as we receive this deposit. The balance is payable on delivery.
