On 22 August 2026, the Samaritans of Northern Vaud and the Sauvetage des Iris met by the lake in Yverdon-les-Bains for a joint exercise.
We followed a single rescue operation from start to finish. Two people fell into the water offshore and the alarm was raised. The lifeguards brought the unconscious victim aboard a boat and took them back to the shore. The Samaritans took over, administering resuscitation and first aid, whilst the second victim, in a state of shock, provided their details. A call was made to 144, after which the paramedics took charge of the victim and transported them to the ambulance.
The exercise concluded with a debriefing on the beach with the observers.
