La Barque des 100 voix — Reportage photo
Portrait and documentary photography of the show *La Barque des 100 voix*, focusing on lighting, contrasts and the individual presence of the dancers.
A photography project centred on the show *La Barque des 100 voix* at the Centre culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne. As well as documenting the dancers on stage, I wanted to capture the group’s energy, the power of their bodies, the contrasts in light and the presence of each performer.
Two stages. First, a pre-performance shoot, which was more posed and focused on portraits and lighting. Then, a reportage-style shoot during the performance, to capture the movement, the interactions, the atmosphere on stage and the key moments.
Objective
To capture the energy of the performance whilst showcasing the group and each dancer individually.
Result
A series of images combining staged portraits and performance photography, with a focus on contrasts, stage lighting, movement and the dancers’ expressions.
Lessons learnt
A stage photograph taken in bright, high-contrast lighting, with a dual focus: to showcase the group whilst retaining the individuality of each dancer.

Photographs taken during the production of *La Barque des 100 voix* at the Centre culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne, a venue that hosts dance, theatre and music.
I worked in two stages: first, a more posed portrait shoot with the dancers, to carefully control the lighting and highlight the faces, poses and stage presence of each performer. This was followed by a reportage shoot during the performance, to capture the movement, the energy of the group, the contrasts in light and the key moments.
I wanted to go beyond simply photographing individual dancers: to show the collective strength of the group, the intensity of the performance and the uniqueness of each performer.
