Fortunato Si — Scénographie vidéo et régie live
Creation and live management of all video content projected onto the back of the stage for a theatre production combining live acting, pre-recorded footage and digital sets.
I designed and managed all the video content shown on the screens at the back of the stage: digital sets, filming certain actors against a green screen and compositing them into the visuals, followed by the complete set-up of the video control room.
It was impossible to play the videos one after the other. To keep in step with the theatre’s rhythm, I prepared the content in Resolume Arena with precise triggers, invisible pauses and resets at just the right moment. Each video sequence corresponded to a stage in the script, following the actors’ lines and performances in real time.
I wanted the video to be fluid and natural, accompanying the actors without imposing a fixed rhythm on them: integrating pre-filmed characters, changing the sets and enhancing the sense of immersion in real time.
Objective
To create a fluid video sequence to accompany the live performance, without imposing a fixed pace on the actors.
Lessons learnt
I had to learn from scratch how to use Resolume Arena, a live video management programme, in order to prepare, organise and trigger the video content live during the performance.
