Pourquoi nous ne réalisons pas de photos ni de vidéos de mariage
Weddings require time, lightweight equipment, regular practice and budgets that match expectations. This is not INVprod’s area of expertise.
INVprod produces photographs and videos for the performing arts, institutions, businesses and professional events. We do not offer wedding photography or videography, for four reasons.
1 — A WEDDING DAY TAKES MUCH LONGER THAN JUST ONE DAY
The work begins before the ceremony and continues for several days afterwards. We have to plan the schedule, anticipate moments that cannot be re-shot, manage multiple locations, handle the sound, back up the files, sort through the photos, edit, colour-grade and deliver the final product.
For our organisation, setting aside a Saturday and the subsequent days for post-production means postponing a recording, a promotional film or a corporate commission. Our time is not unlimited. We reserve it for the productions we wish to develop.
2 — THE MARKET IS ALREADY SATURATED
The wedding photography and videography market is already very competitive in French-speaking Switzerland. In our region, for example, there are DM Venturi, Unique Moment, Sylvain Richoz and P3T Vidéos. The list is by no means exhaustive.
These service providers are already active in this field. We have no reason to add a generalist service to a sector full of specialists, let alone to get involved in a price war.
3 — OUR EQUIPMENT ISN’T DESIGNED FOR THAT
We work with large camera bodies and cinema-style cameras. This equipment is suitable for pre-planned shoots, cinematography, multi-camera set-ups or shoots with a crew assembled specifically for the assignment.
A wedding requires a lightweight, quiet and mobile setup that can be used throughout the day. Setting up a bulky cinema camera in a church or carrying it around for ten hours is not a good approach.
We would need to buy specialised equipment and accessories, then practise regularly to build up a credible service offering. We are not going to invest in an activity that we do not wish to develop.

4 — SOME REQUESTS DO NOT FIT WITH THE BUDGET
Some couples want coverage throughout the whole day, two cameramen, audio of the speeches, a drone, the entire ceremony, a short film, a feature-length film, vertical footage, hundreds of photos and a quick turnaround. The budget provided sometimes only covers a few hours’ filming.
When the budget doesn’t cover the preparation, the crew or the post-production required, the project gets off to a bad start. We don’t want to spend weeks negotiating a service that’s already underfunded, only to then have to cut back on filming or editing.
In such cases, the answer is no.
WE’RE STAYING ON OUR OWN GROUND
INVprod does not take wedding photographs or film wedding videos.
We focus our time and equipment on recording performances, corporate documentary filming, business events, artist portraits and promotional films. For a wedding, it is best to hire a service provider who specialises in this field.
